"Earlier this year, Corgi International and Microsoft entered into a partnership to bring a comprehensive line of replica collectibles spanning the vast universes of Halo, Halo 2, and the hotly anticipated Halo 3.

An updated Gamestop listing has revealed that Master Replicas plans to release a BR55 Battle Rifle and a Covenant Carbine. Both replicas will be scaled and they will be available on September 3, 2007 for $19.99 each."

The Cost of Exclusivity

A few days ago it was confirmed that the episodic content for GTAIV will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. This is a big move in the console war with GTA being one of the biggest selling franchises of all time. One may ask though, 'how much does it take to sway developer Take 2 into staying exclusive with MS?'
Try $50 Million.

"This was revealed in Take-Two's second quarter fiscal 2007 results conference call. When asked for details on the move by analyst Evan Wilson, of Pacific Crest Securities, Take Two's CFO Lainie Goldstein disclosed both the sums involved and prospective release dates:
'The first 25 is for the first episodic content package that's supposed to go out and that is in March of '08. That's why it moved into current because it's in the next 12 months. The second 25 will be for the second episodic, the episode, and that will be later in fiscal '08.'"

*Good to see Microsoft is not scared to shell out some cash to get 360 users exclusive content.

Xbox 360 prices may be cut by Christmas

From Kotaku

"Microsoft is starting to realize that it's going to take a lot more than a couple of pinatas to expand their Xbox audience. Worried that the 360 will get "pigeonholed as a hard-core machine", Microsoft is looking at this holiday season to see what can be done. Though he declined to say for sure whether or not Microsoft will reduce the cost of the Xbox 360, David Hufford (a director of Xbox product management), sees the potential for making it more affordable for the consumer:
We are well aware that the sweet spot of the market is really 199 bucks... (The Wii, at $250, makes a)strong value proposition. When mom walks into the store and sees she can get a console with a game for $250, she sees it as a $300 value. They've done a good job.'"

Assassin's Creed hits stores this November

SAN FRANCISCO--Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced the worldwide launch for the highly anticipated and critically acclaimed Assassin’s Creed will be November 2007.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise will make its debut on the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PC. Assassin’s Creed is being developed by an all-star team from Ubisoft’s world-class Montreal studio. As a testament to its pre-launch following and buzz, the latest Assassin’s Creed gameplay trailer, released on May 23, exceeded more than 1.3 million downloads via GameTrailers.com in less than a week.

Assassin’s Creed is going to be a huge launch for Ubisoft this year along with the added prestige of being the start of this exciting new franchise that is bringing something completely new to the market,” said Tony Key, vice president of marketing, Ubisoft. “We’re confident that Assassin’s Creed will exceed expectations as a ‘must-have’ title this holiday season and will achieve both critical and commercial success.”

The game is set in 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players will assume the role of the main character, Altair, and will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and truly experience the art of a master assassin.

In 2006, Assassin’s Creed received the Game Critics Award: Best of E3 2006 for “Best Action-Adventure Game” and swept the “Best PS3 Game” category across numerous video game Web sites.*

Assassin’s Creed will be available in North America at the MSRP of $59.99 with the Limited Edition priced at $69.99 – ESRB rating is pending. For more information, please visit www.assassinscreed.com.

Xbox employees abusing their power?

From a few people on the Xbox.com forums a story came about being banned by a mysterious person on xbox live for nothing at all. Here is the whole story:

"I'm sorry but I can't let the story go untold. I think the community has a right to know that they are at risk. I'm not asking for your comments, I'm not asking for your opinions, I just want this to reach someone who can actually do something. I know you can't just press a BAN button and make the guy dissapear, but I definately want the issue recognized and I can't do that without the forums.

Now, for the uninformed, here is the story.

If things are not being explained enough with the bullets, here we go.

Me, Red 001, and SPARTAN 121 were playing together in Shadowrun. We were RNA on Power Plant. We were proceeding the game like normal ( the only thing that wasn't normal was us getting OWNED. Stick out tongue [] ). I think it was around 4 - 0 Lineage when I teleport down and the "guy" ( I will call him "guy" due to his massive amount of gamertags ) accidentally friendly fires upon me.

I jokingly tell him to calm down. Out of nowhere he says, " SHUT THE *** UP -LAST NAME- OR I'LL BAN YOU FROM THE SERVERS. " I tell him to seriously calm down, and it was just a joke. He proceeds to cuss me out as well as my friends ( SPARTAN and Red. ) I never cussed once in the game, I don't even cuss on Xbox Live period. The worst thing I said to this guy was, " Dude, did you have a bad day or something? "

After the cussing spree ( achievement unlocked! ) from the "guy" Red 001 votes to boot him from the match. We all boot him due to the anger he seemed to have. We continued to get owned, and then Red 001 drops out. I figure his Xbox froze and continue playing. No more than 3 minutes later I get a message from Red saying, " DUDE I WAS BANNED. " I am shocked. I tell SPARTAN and continue to play.

Minutes later, I am banned from Xbox Live.

I post on the forums. The "guy" changes his gamertag. Red gets unbanned. I get unbanned. Once we figure out his new gamertag, he changes it again.."

I really hope this gets sorted out, these kind of people should not have access to our personal info and should not be banning unfairly.

No Final Fantasy for the 360

(From Kotaku) "According to IGN, producer Shinji Hashimoto, who's just the king of bad news lately, told the Nikkei BP that the Xbox 360 isn't going to see any Final Fantasy games for a long time. No Final Fantasy XIII. No Final Fantasy XIII Versus. Nothing!

He describes the current development plan for Final Fantasy titles as "a completely blank page" meaning Xbox fans with a hankering for stuff from the school of Square-Enix RPG development will have to settle for The Last Remnant."

Gears of War NOT coming to a PS3 near you

Last week an interesting story popped up on a PS3 message board saying that Epic, and Cliff Bleszinski, were not happy with Microsoft and were threatening to move Gears to the PS3. This is not true, just check out what Mark Rein posted on the Gears forums about the story....

"This story is complete bull****. I emailed the site and asked them to take it down. We're very happy with our relationship with Microsoft. If it weren't for them Gears wouldn't be the huge hit it has become."

Rein went as far as posting on the PS3 forum saying:
"Please remove that complete b******* story about Gears going to PS3. Cliff Bleszinski has NEVER been quoted as "threatening Microsoft to port over Gears to the PS3". We're very happy with our relationship with Microsoft and are extremely grateful of everything they've done to help make Gears the huge success it has become. Part of that success came from being an Xbox 360 exclusive FIRST PARTY title and Microsoft getting behind it in a huge way. They're the publisher of Gears of War and, unless they say otherwise, there is no chance Gears is coming to PS3. For PS3 we have Unreal Tournament 3 and it's going to be fantastic."
